Here, you will stay in the heart of Hallingdal’s beautiful high-mountain scenery, with miles of hiking trails and cross-country ski tracks right outside your doorstep.
Whether you are looking for active days on the slopes, peaceful mountain hikes, quality time with family by the fireplace, or simply a break from everyday life, Svarthamar 3 provides the perfect setting for your stay. Here, you can enjoy the true mountain atmosphere, spectacular views, and the warm, cozy cabin experience that Hallingdal is famous for.
Ål is known as one of Hallingdal’s most versatile mountain destinations. During winter, you will find one of Southern Norway’s longest connected networks of cross-country ski trails just outside the cabin. The well-groomed tracks stretch for miles across the high mountain plateau, offering excellent skiing opportunities for all levels. For alpine skiing enthusiasts, Ål Ski Centre is only a short drive away.
When the snow melts, the area transforms into a paradise for hiking, cycling, and fishing. From the cabin, you can set out on short family-friendly walks or longer mountain hikes through the open and scenic highland terrain. The views towards Hallingskarvet, Reineskarvet, and the surrounding mountain ranges make every excursion a memorable nature experience.
The centre of Ål is approximately 20 minutes away by car and offers shops, restaurants, cultural attractions, and activities for the whole family. Here you will also find the famous Bergen Railway (Bergensbanen), providing convenient access to both Oslo and Bergen.
The cabin is particularly well suited for large families, groups of friends, and multiple families travelling together. With five bedrooms, spacious communal areas, a sauna, and additional sleeping spaces in both the bay window area and the loft, there is plenty of room for both relaxation and social gatherings.
Built in the traditional style of Ål, the cabin combines local architectural heritage with modern comfort. Large windows bring the surrounding nature indoors while providing stunning views throughout the year.

The cabin is equipped with electricity and running water, underfloor hydronic heating throughout, a sauna, washing machine, TV with channels, and a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher – everything you need for a comfortable stay.
